Our business has started because Ashley is a mom who had a doula during her pregnancy and delivery. She always wanted to give back, and the opportunity came along for her to finally get the training to become a doula.

Labor Together is a Black-owned, female-owned doula practice serving Grand Rapids and Kent County. For 4+ years, we've supported more than 30 families with culturally sensitive prenatal, labor, and postpartum care, at home, in the hospital, or by telehealth.
We also help Michigan doulas with Medicaid credentialing, SIGMA registration, and billing. We're a Michigan Medicaid provider with HIPAA Compliance Certification, and we accept Medicaid for doula care. Call us or book a free consultation to get started.

Better Birth Support
Labor Together is about providing care to the BIPOC community. It started with Ashley's own experience of having a doula during her pregnancy and delivery, which led her to this work. Today, our mission is simple: no family should go through pregnancy, birth, or the newborn weeks without a strong advocate. We focus on BIPOC and Medicaid-eligible families in Grand Rapids and Kent County, because care should be within reach for everyone.
We also believe doulas do their best work when the business side is manageable. By guiding birth workers through Medicaid credentialing and billing, we help more skilled doulas serve more families. When we support one another, the whole community grows stronger.

We take a community-centered, culturally sensitive approach to maternal and family support. We are committed to empowering BIPOC families, providing compassionate birth and postpartum support, and helping families access the resources they need, including Medicaid coverage for doula care.
Unlike businesses that focus solely on doula services, we also support the doulas behind the work. We guide birth workers through Michigan Medicaid credentialing, SIGMA registration, billing education, and professional development, so more skilled doulas can build sustainable practices and serve more families.
